Over 1,100 Claims Submitted in First Month Since Program’s Launch

Offers are starting to be extended to participants of SCE’s direct claims program

December 04, 2025

The community members directly impacted by the Eaton Fire are now closer to receiving compensation to rebuild and recover. Just one month after Southern California Edison launched its Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program, over 1,100 claims were submitted by individuals. Hundreds of additional claims have now been submitted by attorneys too. To date, claims submitted include nearly 3,000 people.

In July, SCE committed to launch the program by Thanksgiving and deliver offers within 90 days of receiving a substantially complete claim. Today’s news makes good on that promise. In fact:

  • SCE launched the program on October 29.
  • Offers are being made to program participants.
  • Some offers have already been accepted.
  • Payments will be made within 30 days, after all conditions have been satisfied.

These milestones aren’t just about numbers — they’re about helping neighbors move forward quickly.

Why It Matters
The community needs help — fast — for the direct impacts from the Eaton Fire. This was a common theme SCE heard from over 1,000 voices at more than a dozen feedback sessions this fall. The Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program is designed to provide fair resolutions and fast payments to eligible individuals and businesses, so they may go on with rebuilding their lives. SCE understands the urgency for payments by year-end.

What’s Next
Claims can be submitted until Nov. 30, 2026. On average, it takes under 90 minutes to complete the claim form. Participation in the program is completely voluntary. SCE remains focused on:

  • Processing claims quickly (within 90 days of being substantially complete) and delivering support to the community.
  • Offering resources online, by phone and in person.
  • Delivering fair resolutions and fast payments every step of the way.
