Not all of us can put solar panels on our houses, but there are simple things you can do to support clean, renewable solar energy.

Here are some tips:

  1. Install outdoor solar lights. It’s simple to do and cost effective. Solar lights come in a variety of sizes and shapes, from strings of lights to individual pathway lights. There are even motion-sensing, solar-powered lights available. Depending on the brand, light color and size, solar lights can cost less than $8.
  2. Sign up for a Green Rate. The Green Rate gives you the opportunity to purchase renewable solar energy. By participating in the Green Rate, you help support the environment, local solar power and help provide clean energy for our future.
  3. Take advantage of a solar-powered backpack or phone charger to charge your cellphone or tablet. Chargers and backpacks can be found for less than $50.
