Storm Sandbag Tips
El Niño can bring more rainfall and some flooding to parts of Southern California. Placing sandbags around your home can help direct water away from your property. Follow these safety and prevention tips on how to properly use sandbags to protect your home.
How to Place a Sandbag
After filling your sandbag (as shown above), follow these steps.
- Fold the top of your sandbag and place it facing down so that the sandbag rests on top of the folded part. Overlap bags so there are no gaps in-between.
- Step on the bag to flatten the surface so they fit tightly together.
- Place bags with the folded top facing uphill to prevent bags from opening when water flows by.
- Follow these steps to help you optimize pyramid stacking of sandbags.
