Which of the following reduces air pollution?

  1. Attend meetings remotely instead of driving or flying.
  2. Carpooling or vanpooling.
  3. Make the switch to an electric vehicle.
  4. Take The Pledge to participate in California Clean Air Day on Oct. 5.
  5. All of the above!

You get brownie points if you answered 5! Clean Air Day is a project of the nonprofit Coalition for Clean Air, urging millions of Californians to take simple actions to improve the quality of the air we breathe.

Urban trees reduce heat and reduce pollution by acting like spounges that absorb harmful particulate matter.
Urban trees reduce heat and reduce pollution by acting like sponges that absorb harmful particulate matter.

Southern California Edison's parent company, Edison International, sponsors California Clean Air Day and is reaching out to individuals and organizations to not only “Take the Pledge” but encourage these simple actions all year long. Some of the steps you can take include:

Reduce Vehicle Emissions

  • Attend meetings remotely instead of driving
  • Walk, bike or scoot to the store or transit stop
  • Carpool or vanpool
  • Switch from a gas-powered car to a hybrid or electric vehicle

Go Green

  • Plant a home garden or plant in a community garden
  • Plant a tree
  • Compost your food

Switch It Out

  • Clean or change your home air filter
  • Switch to using natural all-purpose cleaners
  • Buy produce locally
  • Choose a greener energy rate

Edison International's support for California Clean Air Day aligns with Pathway 2045, SCE's data-driven analysis of the steps that California must take to meet the 2045 goals to reduce greenhouse gases and reach carbon neutrality.
