As you start to think of New Year’s resolutions, why not include goals that will help the environment?
For the state to meet its goal of carbon neutrality by 2045, there are major milestones that must be achieved — Edison International’s Reaching Net Zero outlines those steps. By adding some energy-efficient alternatives to your list of resolutions, you and California can work together to reach new goals.
No action is too big or too small when it comes to creating a cleaner, brighter future for the planet. Here are some ways to make a difference in 2025:
- When online shopping, select the option to reduce the number of deliveries so your items will arrive at once and with less packaging.
- For Time-of-Use (TOU) customers, limit electricity use between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.
- Switch to energy-efficient kitchen appliances. An induction cooktop can make your kitchen safer, healthier and more energy efficient.
- To conserve energy, use power strips to turn off multiple electronic devices at once.
- Join a volunteer event. Pick up trash or plant trees in your local community through organizations like Heal the Bay and TreePeople.
- Consider switching to an electric vehicle. Southern California Edison customers can receive a $1,000 rebate for purchasing a pre-owned EV and $4,000 to income-qualified customers. SCE’s Charge Ready Home program offers up to $4,200 in rebates to eligible customers who need to install an EV charger.
- Reduce energy use with a smart thermostat and get $40 in annual bill credits for participating in SCE’s Smart Energy Program.
Instead of simply following the phrase “new year, new me,” next year switch up the saying to “new year, cleaner future.”
