Are you ready to turn your wheels toward a clean energy future? National Drive Electric Week from Sept. 22 - Oct. 1 can help.
For 13 years, motorists and electric vehicle enthusiasts have gathered to celebrate the benefits of EVs during the nationwide celebration. Events often feature test drives, showcases, informative workshops and other fun activities.
Edison International is sponsoring several local events this year:
- EV Expo Beaumont — Sept. 23
- The Port of Hueneme Banana Festival — Sept. 30
- WCVI Ponte Las Pilas Ride and Drive — Sept. 30
“National Drive Electric Week is a great chance for drivers to talk to EV owners in their communities about the true EV driving experience,” said Joel Levin, executive director of Plug In America, a nonprofit that is an organizing partner of National Drive Electric Week. “We want to give everyone accurate, practical information so they can make informed decisions about what is best for them. There are many great deals and incentives available, not to mention an increase in the variety of models for sale. So, there’s a lot to discover at National Drive Electric Week events, even for current EV owners.”
For example, Southern California Edison offers a Pre-Owned EV Rebate program available to SCE residential customers who have recently purchased or leased eligible pre-owned EVs. Income-qualified SCE customers may be eligible to receive a $4,000 rebate.
According to Mary, a driver who bought a pre-owned EV with SCE’s rebate program: “This was my first EV purchase. I was delighted to find that I could get a rebate for a used car.”
Another SCE rebate customer, Deborah, added: “It was very quickly processed, and the check was sent out. I’m so happy I got a plug-in hybrid versus a regular hybrid. It makes me want my next car to be 100% electric.”
SCE’s Pre-Owned EV Rebate program inspired the federal EV rebate program that is part of the Inflation Reduction Act. The program also received the Alliance to Save Energy’s 2023 Stars of Energy Efficiency Transportation Award earlier this week.
