Jose designs small and large-scale building electrification (BE) programs for SCE’s residential and commercial customers, allowing for an equitable, reliable and affordable transition to a clean energy future. His work helps SCE stay on track to reach its long-term goal of carbon neutrality by 2045.

Most of Jose’s work has been done single-handedly as part of the core BE team, which is still in its infancy with limited support. Beyond Jose’s BE work, he also worked closely with internal stakeholders offering “big-picture” advice regarding the role of BE with key stakeholders in T&D, Demand Response, Customer Contact Center, Local Public Affairs, energy efficiency and income-qualified programs. His work led SCE to exceed its heat pump goal two years in a row during a pandemic. He also was a key contributor to SCE’s $677 million BE application, where he developed the proposed core program offerings and budget. This was a significant step for SCE, thrusting the company out front as a leader in building decarbonization.

If SCE’s collective values could be rolled into one person, it would be Jose. He focuses on integrity and respect by seeking feedback and holds himself and others accountable. He is collaborative and works toward the common good and focuses on engaging SCE’s customers in a way that is simple, makes sense and maintains the highest sensitivity toward disadvantaged communities. He strives to accomplish the company’s goals and is capable of on-the-spot ingenuity and agility to succeed.

Andrea has served on the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) Operations team since the group’s inception — working as an operations section chief and closely coordinating with the incident commander to make real-time, PSPS-related operations decisions.

While Andrea has worked in supervisory and individual contributor roles, she always embodies leadership. She feels passionate about ensuring everyone’s success and never shies away from a challenge. No question goes unanswered when Andrea is teaching or coaching. They say patience is a virtue, and Andrea is the master. She helps the team continuously improve and creates scenarios that allow them to role-play through drills. Andrea builds the team’s confidence and has worked diligently on bringing the new operations group up to speed to ensure they are knowledgeable and have the right resources to drive effective decision-making during PSPS events. This work helped reduce the number of PSPS outages and customer minutes of interruption.

Andrea lives and breathes SCE’s values day in and day out — with safety, excellence and teamwork front of mind. She is passionate about PSPS and believes the program is making a difference. She influences those around her and motivates and engages her team. She doesn't consider herself successful unless she brings everyone along. She doesn't just want to be great at her job, she also wants to help others gain knowledge and build skills. Andrea believes that success comes from achieving goals as a team, and she works tirelessly to ensure the PSPS operations team is ready for anything the weather throws their way.

Mike handles the financial valuation of energy and capacity projects submitted through many of SCE’s largest and most complex energy procurement solicitations. His role requires a robust understanding of regulatory and wholesale power market issues and the expertise to develop new evaluation models.

Believing in the importance of his job and passionate about the work, Mike works in overdrive because he is committed to the company. When the Reliability Utility Owned Energy Storage (RUOES) project materialized, Mike was excited about the opportunity to create greater value for SCE customers. He co-developed a battery energy storage valuation model using IBM’s CPLEX optimizer and Python. This tool is used to evaluate energy storage offers that help meet grid reliability and was adopted by the EPM trade floor team to analyze the performance of existing energy storage projects in SCE’s portfolio. Mike succeeded with this project because he understands the big picture, thinks strategically, leads by doing and with empathy, and performs complicated analysis quickly and on request.

Mike’s team regularly jokes, “What would Mike do?” because they truly look up to him. He demonstrates a strong commitment to psychological safety in the way he fosters an open and safe space for discussion. Everyone who works with him feels comfortable asking questions without fear of judgement. Feedback is always delivered in a way that shows he is genuinely invested in the person’s development. It is rare to find someone like Mike — the company is lucky to have him.

As a senior attorney in the Law department, Rita supports various organizations on wildfire issues where she has consulted with teams and influenced the successful development of key documents such as the Red Flag Warning/Hot Work guidelines, Public Safety Power Shutoff protocol and numerous responses to data requests and rulemakings related to PSPS.

Providing outstanding support with unwavering commitment and responsiveness, Rita’s workload is beyond what could be expected of other team members in an equal position. Rita goes about her work and her interactions with others in a way that truly sets her apart — even under pressure. She’s a role model because she delivers high-quality results despite competing priorities, unrealistic deadlines and mountains of documents to review and comment on. Through it all, she always has a positive attitude, is unselfish with her time, kind and driven to do the right thing for SCE and its customers.

Rita is the go-to person on the team and is committed to safety, hard work and treats others with respect. She consistently delivers quality products, has great critical-thinking skills and uses active listening. Rita quickly gets to the heart of the matter and provides sound, practical guidance while maintaining a caring, respectful demeanor with team members.

Jeremy oversees Riverside County in his role as Government Relations manager. He works closely with stakeholders in seven cities and 11 unincorporated areas — working with elected officials, local government staff and key community representatives.

As a fixture in the communities he serves, Jeremy has earned their trust and respect. His diligence, professionalism and work ethic have resonated with the LPA team and his ability to work with stakeholders in support of corporate priorities is unmatched. Not only does Jeremy keep his stakeholders informed about SCE's corporate initiatives, but he also provides valuable field intelligence on SCE issues, including the numerous high-visibility, multiyear and politically sensitive infrastructure projects in his territory.

SCE’s core values guide Jeremy in making decisions, building relationships and working through issues. He has developed relationships based on honesty, integrity and respect. He successfully leverages these connections to secure field intelligence and influence and to secure support for SCE policies. Jeremy challenges himself to find new ways to resolve problems and help move the company forward.

David is the senior manager of Planning and Analysis in Operational Finance. Before this role, David served as a senior advisor in the Treasurer’s office where he led a team responsible for developing revenue requirements to fund nearly all of SCE’s work.

Even under pressure, David is an outstanding team member and has made incredible contributions to the company by making time to help others and to look for innovative solutions. Of particular importance is David’s contributions around wildfire costs. David devised a new Power BI query to accurately assign costs to the appropriate accounts. This solution led Controllers to create new balancing account files that are easier and more accurate to maintain. This would have been impossible without David’s knowledge of the topic, system and how to gather data efficiently and accurately.

David shows concern for the team, treats everyone with respect and loves teaching and developing team members. He is willing to step in, share his knowledge and participate in finding solutions to problems outside his assigned area. He genuinely cares about his team, the company and has a true passion for his work.

Toni-Lynne walks the talk as a senior advisor in the Corporate & Affiliate Compliance group within Ethics & Compliance, managing ethics and compliance, cultural engagement and enterprisewide E&C communications.

Fostering an ethical and compliant culture, Toni-Lynne balances creativity, dedication, hard work and leadership to deliver quality results. She has a passion for her work and is known for being a team player. Last year, she launched more than 190 communications through various channels, supported more than 130 outreach compliance events and has presented 15 ethics/values-based culture events. She spearheaded and drove engagement in Edison’s third annual “Compliance Awareness Week” with 300 participants in a virtual format. She developed and launched an awareness campaign on the importance of speaking up, specifically focused on reporting noncompliance. The volume and quality of her work is a testament to her being a model team member.

Toni-Lynne is hardworking, collaborative and competent. Because of her ability and sense of teamwork, she is requested by leaders to help with their values-based activities. Many team members convey how much she helps their organization. She sets an example for collaboration and teamwork, is willing to speak up and has provided feedback to leaders that triggered improvements. She has significantly impacted E&C’s culture and cohesiveness throughout the pandemic. Toni-Lynne is a natural leader and an inspiration to our organization.

As a project general supervisor (PGS), Mike coordinates and oversees work assigned to contract line crews doing distribution construction and maintenance.

Mike earned his positive reputation by pioneering the Human External Cargo Work Practice, including rough terrain rebuilds and covered conductor projects, across four regions. These projects have a tremendous impact on the company’s ability to complete wildfire mitigation work, which resulted in huge cost savings by bringing work in-house. He is constantly working to bridge the gap between departments, districts and regions. Mike has done an excellent job in creating productive partnerships with teams around the company to support the Distribution Long Line program. As a result, the Orange region has seen an increase in morale, pride and ownership of this critical work. The program has since expanded across SCE as Mike trains, leads and mentors line crews.

With his infectious personality, positive energy and enthusiasm, Mike always has an uplifting outlook to help anyone in the company, as well as our contract partners. Mike builds pride in the craft and always focuses on the greater good. He strives to make everyone around him remember why we love this line of work.

Matthew’s role is the first line of defense in repairing and maintaining Edison’s vehicle fleet, maintaining records and reports associated with garage operations and performing automotive service duties.

Always looking for ways to be more efficient, Matthew builds spreadsheets to streamline processes and clarify intentions with vendors and clients. He cultivates positive relationships by interacting with others in an open and honest way to address their needs — the impact is instant and measurable. The shop’s on-time preventative maintenance tasks are nearly 100% every month, resulting from Matthew’s continuous improvement. He also categorizes and schedules all vehicles that park off property to complete service in one stop to keep operations running efficiently.

Matthew’s work ethic positively influences his team to perform at peak efficiency while working safely. Clients often go to Matthew first because he only promises what he can deliver and communicates with clear and direct intention. He produces high-quality work, treats mistakes as learning experiences and takes on new challenges to be better and more efficient. Teamwork and relationship building are at the core of Matthew’s responsibilities and his interactions with the crews can only be described as stellar.

Adaora manages the activities of the Office of the CEO, preparing Pedro for meetings and events, planning effectively around those needs and prioritizing and developing comprehensive briefing materials.

Pivotal to the EEI Edison Award-winning nomination for SCE's electric transportation program, Adaora moved the nomination forward even as doubts about the selected topic were expressed by senior leaders. She wrote the nomination and project managed the entire process. Her work helped further reinforce our company’s leadership and it enabled the team’s accomplishments to be recognized for their impact on the industry. In addition, she has gone above and beyond in establishing a new process for CEO travel and ensured everyone was trained to participate in this new process. Adaora served as president of the Networkers BRG from 2018-2020, leading the group through the Space4Dialogue listening sessions. She has continued her diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) advocacy and is an integral contributor to the CEO’s DEI platform, thus making sure our corporate DEI messaging is salient.

Adaora excels because she is open to feedback and puts in the hours to get the work done and be available for her team. She assumes the best in people and is always willing to lend a helping hand. She raises her team up, often in ways they had not previously thought possible. Adaora cares deeply for others, has the most positive attitude and makes her coworkers want to be more positive people.
