Does Lightning Ever Strike Fish?

Yes, it does. Water conducts electricity and when lightning strikes the ocean, most of the electrical discharge takes place near the water’s surface. Any fish near the surface of the water get electrocuted.

It’s worth noting that most fish that swim below the surface are unaffected.
